Interesting facts about PLA
Sugar bottle means that the bottle is made of PLA, not traditional PET.
No, the bottle lasts! It only decomposes when the conditions are right: aerobic, suitable temperatures, the presence of microorganisms, etc. The bottle lasts in the kitchen cabinet just like conventional plastic ones.
No, the bottle is made from sugar cane, but it is completely tasteless.
Organic PET. This means that the cap is not biodegradable, but it is also made from renewable raw materials.
PLA means polylactide acid or polylactic acid. This can be used to produce plastic that is made from natural and, above all, renewable raw materials such as corn starch or sugar.
Although the terms are used similarly in practice, it is actually important to differentiate between them. Any substance that is compostable is biodegradable, but not necessarily the other way around. Biodegradable means that a material can be broken down through biological processes caused by living (micro) organisms. However, there is no time measurement here.
Please throw the bottle into the recycling bin. Because: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step.” The goal is to feed as much PLA as possible into the recycling process so that sooner or later the plastic disappears from our bins. We, as consumers, can do a lot to ensure that waste management includes that PLA be properly disposed of in the recycling process!
